Measuring only about 1 to 1.5 inches long, this stunning, bright-blue creature drifts along warm ocean currents using a fascinating combination of survival superpowers:
* Upside-Down Camouflage: It floats on the surface of the sea by storing a gas bubble in its stomach. Because it floats upside down, its dark blue belly faces the sky to blend into the ocean for birds, while its silvery-grey back faces down to blend with sunlight for fish—a strategy known as countershading.
* Venom Stealer: The Blue Dragon immune to the deadly stings of the Portuguese Man o' War (a highly venomous creature). It aggressively hunts them down and munches on their stinging tentacles.
* Concentrated Firepower: Instead of digesting the jellyfish's stinging cells (nematocysts), the dragon stores them in the feathery, finger-like structures (cerata) on
body. Because it concentrates these cells together, a human touching a tiny Blue Dragon can receive a sting far more painful and severe than touching the Portuguese Man o' War itself!
